Caliente Alpaca Transport,
owned and run by Evan and Lori Harwood, is here to provide
you with trustworthy and caring service. We are fully committed
to your animals' comfort, safety, health, and well-being,
and are happy to accommodate your personal transportation
needs. Evan transports your animals and Lori answers your
emails or phone calls. We work as a team to ensure on-time
arrivals and prompt response to your inquiries. Evan is a
safe driver with many years of over the road experience. He
has had training driving tractor-trailers and knows how to
handle hazards of the open road. He holds a current CDL.
Since fall of 2004, we have been actively involved in the
alpaca community, gaining valuable experience by attending
alpaca shows and CABA functions, as well as many educational
seminars about alpacas, and the alpaca business. We have also
visited local ranches and gotten to know many wonderful people.
We gained a great deal of experience working part-time at
a large ranch with over 150 alpacas and llamas, where we were
responsible for feeding, barn and pasture maintenance, and
halter training. In addition we have been involved in most
aspects of working at shows, including taking animals into
the show ring. Within a few years, we plan to start our own
ranch and herd somewhere in the Portland area.
Evan and Lori have both attended Marty McGee Bennett's Basic
Training clinic, where we learned "more efficient llama
and alpaca handling that is safe, fun, kind and respectful."
Evan is registered to take Marty's Advanced Training in September,
2006. After completing this course he will be eligible to
receive the Camelidynamics Handler Seal. We feel that this
will be a huge benefit for us as handlers, you as clients,
and most of all, the animals that we work with.
